Project Budget: £21,000 (excluding VAT)

The Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership (CAVLP) would like to commission a Forest School delivery and training package focussed on children with additional support needs, their teachers/support staff and families.

The project will run in 3 separate schools within the CAVLP boundary and will involve Forest School sessions during school time with the option for families of the participating children to take part in woodland play sessions at a suitable time.

Forest School training (levels 1-3) is also available for teachers, school staff and parents. Contractors who have the appropriate experience and level of training have the option to include the cost of training delivery in the proposal.

The project is an extension of CAVLP’s existing Growing up Wild project but specifically aimed at creating quality outdoor learning and play experiences in a safe and supportive environment for children with additional support needs.

The project will be documented by a separate contractor to produce short films and interviews as part of the overall evaluation. As part of this evaluation, close collaboration will be required with school staff and this contractor to ensure good outputs.

 

Key Requirements

Available to work between August and December 2017

Project leaders for each school must be trained to Forest School Leader level 3. An assistant trained to at least Level 2 will be acceptable.

Initial meeting in mid-August with all schools involved to plan the programme and establish evaluation criteria.

Work with each school to evaluate their project and produce a written report by end of January 2018

Collaborate with an external contractor on the media evaluation.

A flexible and inclusive approach to programme delivery, which caters for the needs of children with additional support needs.

Key considerations

The CAVLP Development Officer will support the programme and act as overall liaison between the different organisations involved. Forest school site surveys and liaison with schools is already underway.
