Working on an exciting large scale Arts and Heritage project; we are looking for an individual who is local to South Lanarkshire and would like to work within a fast paced and dynamic project to provide training, coordination and recruitment of a localised citizen journalism group.

Thanks to funding from the Smarter Choices, Smarter Places grant and Heritage Lottery Fund supported Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership we will be working with communities in Larkhall, Lanark, Carluke, Stonehouse and Glassford to promote walking and cycling. This will be done through a diverse and engaging set of mechanisms to include creative workshops, route identification, digital mapping and an on the ground campaign. You will be working directly with icecream architecture but also with the wider CAVLP team.

Over the coming months we will be delivering a series of artistic interventions, workshops and wayfinding as part of the Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership programme. This activity is to be undertaken to promote active travel, increase awareness of arts and heritage in the area and increase people’s participation in Art and Heritage activity.

Over the course of the project we want to train a minimum of 10 local people to help report on this project, other Clyde and Avon Valley activities such as events and volunteering / other locally relevant activities. You will also work closely with the project's professional photographer who will also support with documenting alongside the citizen journalists. There is a separate contract to undertake professional photography within the project (link below), if this is something that you can also fulfil you can bid for both parts of the contract.

This contract can be fulfilled by an individual or a group and we are asking for submissions / proposals that will fulfil the following requirements:

  • Recruit and train a minimum of 10 local people (including young people and children) to report of local events (2 from each local town being covered in the project).

The training must include:

  • Training to utilise phones / tablets to take imagery and video of local events
  • Training to edit, select and upload imagery and video for use online through CAVLP website, Youtube channel and Instagram. (support will be given from CAVLP for website upload processes)
  • Training to ensure safe working processes
  • Training to develop methods for blogging and reporting on events through written word.
  • Training to make the most out of social media and methods to connect into traditional media.

The outcomes of the project would be:

  • Minimum 10 local people undertake the training
  • All trainees feel confident to attend and cover local events
  • Trainees are provided with identification and information to give them support to access local events
  • A minimum of 20 events are covered during the process
  • Trainees are established as volunteers who can continue to report on behalf of CAVLP beyond the duration of the project.
  • All outcomes are documented and reported throughout and at the conclusion of the contract (evaluation form will be provided)
