A three mile (approx.) cross country guided walk in the area adjacent to the Falls of Clyde.   An in depth look at the landscape and how it has been formed by nature and by humans in an area celebrated over the centuries by writers and artists.   Discover how the Clyde gorge was formed by glacial meltwater, how the gorge affected the settlement of the area, how the artistic awareness and technological advances of the eighteenth century brought change to the landscape in response to the presence of the Falls.  

Other Information

Clothing:  Stout walking footwear and suitable weatherproof clothes essential. 

Terrain:  Rough tracks and fields, some steep slopes.

Maximum number of participants:  20

Age group:  All ages over 10.   Not suitable for unaccompanied children.   Dogs must be on the lead and older children are welcome but all must be fit and accustomed to country walking.

Driving and public transport directions:  By car, follow brown signs to New Lanark and take the car park entrance above the village.  Local bus connects to New Lanark at Lanark station, ask to be let off at the New Lanark car park entrance and walk down the hill to the foot of the car park.

Parking:  Ample free car parking at meeting point.
