About CAVLP

Now in its fouth year, we are funded until 2018 to deliver over 70 projects with 10 key partners Central Scotland Green Network Trust, Clydesdale Community Initiatives, New Lanark Trust, Northlight Heritage, RSPB Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage, Scottish Wildlife Trust, South Lanarkshire Council and Rural Development Trust.

The scenic beauty of area has been recognised and appreciated for centuries. It is a designated Area of Great Landscape Value where ancient woodlands, orchards, farmland, geological features, historic settlements and country estates mingle together to create a distinctive landscape that is unique in Scotland.

The Landscape Partnership, comprised of nine public bodies and charitable organisations, will work with communities and landowners to identify and develop projects which conserve the natural and built heritage of the area, strengthen the connection between people and the landscape and provide a range of volunteering and learning opportunities in traditional heritage skills and land management practices.

We hope to reinforce distinctive features of the landscape that create this special character through: strengthening the connection between community and landscape by providing a range of volunteering and learning opportunities developing heritage skills and strengthening land management practices raising awareness of the area’s history, culture and importance as a sources of food for Glasgow and the surrounding area migrating the adverse visual effects of recent development and introducing new elements that reinforce the landscape character.

CAVLP Partners

	Central Scotland Green Network The partnership creating the Central Scotland Green Network was established by the Central Scotland Forest Trust (CSFT) at the time of the launch of the first Strategy in 1994. The partnership has been extremely effective in transforming the landscape of the Forest area.
	Clydesdale Community Initiatives Clydesdale Community Initiatives was initially set-up in 2002 to enable young people at risk and adults with mental health issues to develop a derelict site in Lanark, South Lanarkshire. This project was so successful, with both groups gaining exceptional skills and confidence from their involvement, that it was decided they would undertake further projects.
	New Lanark World Heritage Site New Lanark is a living community in the care of the New Lanark Trust, whose aim is to preserve the area as a sustainable community with a resident population. The Trust manages the Site in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council and Historic Scotland. The Trust offers a range of attractions and educational experiences for visitors, including the mill, museum, village store, school classroom, and Robert Owen’s house.
	North Lanarkshire Council North Lanarkshire Council provides an array of services for North Lanarkshire including benefits and money advice, bins and recycling, business and trade, community and recreation, council and government, council tax, education and learning, environment, housing, careers and jobs, licensing and registration, planning and building standards, social care and health, sport and leisure, transport and streets.
	Northlight Heritage Northlight Heritage are an independent charity, delivering projects and programmes that encourage practical engagement with archaeology, create volunteering opportunities and blend arts and heritage. We support our clients and partners to manage heritage resources, and we stay ahead of the pack through our research and consultancy practice.
	RSPB Scotland The RSPB is the country's largest nature conservation charity, inspiring everyone to give nature a home. Together with our partners, we protect threatened birds and wildlife so our towns, coast and countryside will teem with life once again. We also play a leading role in a worldwide partnership of nature conservation organisations.
	Scottish Natural Heritage 'All of nature for all of Scotland' - Scotland's natural heritage is its wildlife, habitats, landscapes and natural beauty. Scotland is renowned for its attractive scenery and wild places and has a huge diversity of landscapes, habitats and wildlife. These are part of what makes Scotland special and are among the country's greatest assets. Scottish Natural Heritage is funded by the Scottish Government.
	Scottish Wildlife Trust The Trust has been a champion of Scotland’s wildlife since 1964, from the threatened red squirrel to puffins, dolphins and ancient Caledonian pine forests. From major species and landscape projects to managing wildlife reserves, education work and campaigning for nature: we are protecting Scotland's wildlife for the future.
	South Lanarkshire Council South Lanarkshire Council provides an array of services for South Lanarkshire including benefits and money advice, bins and recycling, business and trade, community and recreation, council and government, council tax, education and learning, environment, housing, careers and jobs, licensing and registration, planning and building standards, social care and health, sport and leisure, transport and streets.
	The Rural Development Trust RDT is based in and operates from South Lanarkshire’s rural area. We have a strong recent track record of developing and delivering projects that address rural issues in a strategic and effective manner. The company has been built around the principles of innovation, co-operation and collaboration, integration, sustainability, partnership and bottom-up project development. Our development has been stimulated and supported by LEADER and we are therefore in a unique position to understand and drive forward rural regeneration projects. Our company philosophy and investment policy is obvious and open. We believe we represent a cost effective and professional solution whilst at the same time representing good value for money. We believe in being prudent with our cost base and keep our business overheads at manageable levels. At the same time our core focus is rural and our policy is to reinvest any operating surpluses into new rural initiatives.

Getting Out and About	We want you to get outdoors and enjoy our valleys by providing opportunities for you to explore, through path improvements, new walks and information about the nature and history you can discover here.
Volunteer	The Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership needs you. There will be opportunities over the programme for you to volunteer on activities and projects undertaken by our partners.
Training and Learning	Training and learning cuts across all the aims of the Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership’s programme. We want to offer you opportunities to discover new skills and develop old, build your capacity to care for the landscape and learn about what makes the valleys special.
Community Led	Young or old we want to help people to take care of our valley for everyone to enjoy for generations to come.
